How Pacific House Anticipates Needs and Acts with Purpose

When Temperatures Drop, Our Community Rises

During December and January, the Governor enacted Connecticut’s Severe Weather Protocol for 18 days and counting. During each activation, Pacific House mobilizes staff and administration to expand bed capacity, secure additional food, manage increased water and electrical needs, and ensure every guest is welcomed with care and dignity. Case workers immediately partner with new guests to assess needs and provide critical support.

However, the cold weather response does not begin with a government alert. Pacific House prepares in advance, stocking supplies, strengthening systems, and ensuring our shelter is ready to meet increased demand. Additionally, thanks to generous volunteers, 27 nights of meals serving more than 2,700 individuals were donated and served during December alone. These vital partnerships allow Pacific House to redirect funds toward the heightened needs that accompany cold weather.

Recognized by the State for Our Impact

Pacific House was recently recognized by State Representative Eilish Collins Main, State Representative Kadeem Roberts, and the End Homelessness Caucus in celebration of new state funding supporting this work.

“Pacific House provides essential resources to many individuals facing homelessness, and this additional funding will allow the organization to expand services and continue supporting residents in need. I am thrilled to deliver this funding to Pacific House during a critical time, and I am grateful for the legislature’s support to invest in Pacific House and its mission,” said State Representative Collins Main.

Pacific House is proud of this recognition and grateful for the state’s investment to prevent and end homelessness in our community.
