Pacific House drew a crowd for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, May 23 for its latest permanent supportive housing property. This blighted property located on Ann Street in Stamford was designed to replicate the neighborhood’s historic Queen Ann style. This latest development project expands Pacific House’s portfolio to a total of 15 homes throughout Stamford, Darien and Norwalk.

The newly built home, which features an on-site case manager, will house 11 formerly homeless individuals. Each tenant contributes financially with an income-based rent payment, while the on-site case management supports the residents as they work toward long-term stability and independence.

“When we build supportive housing, we want to make sure for the residents that they have dignity, they can feel happy,...an opportunity to meet them where they are, an opportunity for them to be successful in life,” said Commissioner Seila Mosquera-Bruno, State of Connecticut Department of Housing.

The project was funded through a $2 million grant from the State of Connecticut Housing Trust Fund and AARPA SLFRF. The State of Connecticut Department of Housing also allocated 11 Rental Assistance Program subsidies. The City of Stamford provided $375,000 from its Affordable Housing Trust Fund.

“If we really are going to address economic disparity here in Fairfield County, Connecticut we are going to build not dozens, not hundreds, not thousands, but millions of units around the United States…starting at supportive housing,” said Congressman Jim Himes.

“During uncertain times, I continue to be very optimistic because we have great leaders [Congressman Himes and Commissioner Mosquera-Bruno] who support our great work on behalf of the population we serve,” said Pacific House President & CEO, Carmen Colón.
