How many beds does Pacific House have?

The State of Connecticut has licensed the Pacific House for up to 82 beds. During winter months and emergencies, we have a capacity of 110 beds.

Is there a fee to stay at the shelter?

There is a minimal fee to stay at Pacific House. However, if a client is unable to afford the minimal fee then he will be assigned a chore in place of the fee.

What are the requirements for staying at the Pacific House?

Men and young adult men wishing to stay at the shelter must be 18 or older and be willing to abide by a basic set of rules of conduct. In addition, those wishing to stay at the shelter must agree to participate in a brief intake session with a case worker.  All those wishing to stay are strongly encouraged -- though not required -- to undergo a medical screening as well.

How can I contact someone staying at the shelter?

Based on respect for the privacy of our clients, Pacific House will not say whether a client is staying here. However, if you need to get in touch with an individual you believe is staying with us, you may call 203-357-9886 and leave a message on our general answering service. The message will be posted and should the client reside with us, he will receive the message. It will then be up to the client whether or not to return the call.

Does the shelter have Spanish-speaking staff?

Yes... there are bilingual case managers to accommodate clients who speak Spanish.

When is Pacific House open?

We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
