The Stamford-based Pacific House Emergency Homeless Shelter held a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday to celebrate its recent renovation.

Clients of Pacific House, the city’s homeless shelter for men, will soon leave the Super 8 hotel where they were moved at the start of the pandemic to increase distancing.

In 1982, an emergency shelter opened its doors in the form of a makeshift shelter in the basement of the First Congregational Church in Stamford.

At the height of the pandemic, homeless shelters in the state moved people out of their group facilities and into hotels, to promote safe social distancing in less congregate settings.
